“When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place… And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…”
—Acts 2:1, 4 (ESV)
There are moments when heaven breaks through.
Moments when the veil thins and the reality of God becomes undeniably present, so near, it catches your breath. Sunday was one of those moments. On Pentecost Sunday, as we gathered to remember the Spirit’s descent on the early Church, He came again, not as an idea, not as a doctrine, but as a person. The Holy Spirit, fierce and gentle, wild and tender, met with us.
Some wept. Some sat still, unsure how to respond. Some were filled with joy. But all of it, , the wonder, the uncertainty, the beauty, points to one thing: God is moving in our midst.
We were not made for dry religion. We were not made to go through the motions of church and life, numbed to the reality of His presence. We were made for encounter. To walk with God, heart to heart, just like in the garden. The Spirit of God was never meant to be a theological concept we nod at from a distance, , He is the very breath of life, the One who awakens the dead places in our hearts and draws us into the wild, holy love of Jesus.
So if something stirred in you Sunday, , don’t dismiss it. Don’t rush past it. Pay attention. The Spirit is awakening something deeper. Not for hype. Not for show. But for restoration. For intimacy. For the renewal of your heart and the heart of our Church.
The Spirit doesn’t come to entertain. He comes to rescue.
Reflection:
• Where did you sense God’s nearness on Sunday?
• What part of your heart is longing for more, , more of His presence, more of His voice, more of His freedom?
• Are you willing to invite the Holy Spirit to disrupt your routines and draw you deeper?
Prayer:
Come, Holy Spirit. I open the door of my heart to You. I welcome Your presence, Your leading, Your voice. Peel back the numbness. Awaken wonder again. I don’t want to live a safe and sanitized faith, I want to walk with You. Fill me. Shape me. Lead me into the fullness of life with Jesus. Amen.
