Paul’s credentials fall into 3 categories. First, he lists 9 hardships he's endured. Second, 9 qualities that he possesses and third he lists 9 contrasts and comparisons that are part not only of his ministry, but every ministry.

  • How does Paul describe his trials and triumphs in ministry?

  • How do Paul's hardships in verses 3-10 relate to your own experiences?

  • What can we learn from Paul's attitude towards suffering?

  • How can you apply Paul's appeal for open-hearted love in your life?

  • How does Paul's affection for the Corinthians model Christ's love for us?

3. The Compassion of The Ambassador

2 Cor. 6:11-13 “11 We have spoken freely to you,[a] Corinthians; our heart is wide open. 12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections. 13 In return (I speak as to children) widen your hearts also.”

  • Is your heart wide open and compassionate for the lost, difficult, stubborn and often frustrating people that Jesus has placed in your life?

  • Have you grown cold and indifferent or is your heart wide open? If so, how so? If not, why not?

  • What can you do to move from a closed and guarded heart to a heart that’s wide open?

  • Where do you need to ask for or offer forgiveness? In what areas may you need to repent and rededicate yourself to the calling of Christ?

Pray that the Spirit of God would convict and convince your heart, head and hands in the areas that you’re struggling to step into your role as an ambassador for Christ.

Pray that in the areas where you’ve been hurt are hurt or hesitant to move towards this gospel calling that The Holy Spirit would comfort and encourage you to move beyond your disappointments and pain to a place of healing and compassionate love and service to others.
